Matchplay - verses Romford
Right the challenge is set, the two biggest open leagues on the internet sites that i know of. CGL league and the Romford League, battling it out in matchplay format over both a par 3 nine hole challenge, followed by bacon rolls and coffee, before the main 18 hole course. On completion, dinner will be served.
We are looking for 20 players from each league to represent themselves and thier area, will it be the Northern Terriers or the Southern Poodles that walk away with the trophy?
Both games will be played as match play games, for points towards the winning teams. Also, it is hoped to have a stableford comp to run in conjunction.
In addition, it is planned to have the following prizes on the day;
Par 3 course - 2 x nearest the pin prizes
Full course -
Nearest the pin
Longest drive
1st
2nd
3rd place
Winning league cup (hopefully to be played for every year)
Possibly other prizes as well.
I might also bring down the Wii, for some golfing prowess on the PC!
I will post details of time to meet up, hotels in the area if needed etc later.
Ideally, we want 20 players or more form each league, we must have 40 players to get this fantastic deal, which i have to thank Paul Elliot for getting sorted out for me.
So to get this striaght, this is weekend golf consisting of 27 holes, bacon roll and coffee and an evening meal for £29!
I will leave the game posted here for a few weeks, as i want league members to take part. After that we will go on the web sites with it. Please, do not take a place and then not bother to show up, neither me nor my fellow league players deserve to be treated as such.
For those taking part, leave comments for car sharing and i will knock something up for this.
I spoke to Russ this evening, who is going to his league players with the game ovver the weekend, but i'm sure we can get 40 plus turning up in total.

Battle of the Leagues. Great to see we are up to 19 from players who play in the league, many thanks. I know a couple more who can make it, but will not add thier names until after the 10th June, to allow members to book a place on what should be a great day out.

They are struggling for numbers, only around 10 so far. So i intend trying to field two teams from our end. So if you know anyone that wants to get one over the softy southerners, then get them to get thier name down.

Rutland update. Spoken to the
Rutland update.
Spoken to the club this morning, the cost is £29 each, even with the reduced numbers. I have currently advised them there will be around 28 taking part.
I have also ordered the winners medals etc and 3 x nearest the pin and 1 x longest drive awards. (this comes to £80, which is how much 27 players would contribute at £3 each (well, a quid left over to be exact!).
As we are playing matchplay and with the reduced numbers, i have done away with the 1st, 2nd & 3rd awards, but will see if i can come up with something else for these.
I also have a trpohy for the winning team to look after etc.
Lets keep the numbers up as it should be a great day for a great price.
