Hickleton Golf Club is located in open countryside in the heart of South Yorkshire between the towns of Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley, yet only three miles from junction 37 of the A1(M).
The original 9-hole course was founded in 1909 with the current 18-hole layout opening in 1976, which was designed by the Ryder Cup players Neil Coles and Brian Huggett. Since 1976 the course has been developed into one of the finest and challenging courses in the South Yorkshire region. The course is an undulating parkland course with tree-lined fairways and fantastic panoramic views over South Yorkshire and the eastern Pennines. In the words of many visitors to Hickleton: "a superb course with magnificent scenery."
After the success of the opening round of the Matchplay last year played on one day Neil Beech and Stu Laws have booked Hickleton Golf Club for the opening round this year.
You will need to register your interest to play before Saturday 28th April (Moor Allerton) as that is where the first round draw will be made. Just like last year if you are unable to attend the first round you will need to complete your match before the Hickleton games.
To keep us on track, just like last years competition games will need to completed by the dates given on the draw page.
The first tee is 14:30 please arrive an hour before for the coffee, bacon rolls and banter.

The 2012 matchplay 1st round will be drawn at the last winter league event at moor allerton
Get your names down for what has proved to be a very popular event in the Cgl calendar.
If you haven't played hickelton before believe me your in for a treat !!!

Cheers for the time and effort put in Neil to get such a good course for the 1st round event, i'm sure it will be a fantastic day like last year at Styrrup.
Can i just remind everyone that this event is limited to 32 players on a first come first served basis and it would be preferable if all 32 can play on the 12th May at Hickleton, though not essential.
Don't forget that if you lose (like me) in the 1st round then you get a 2nd chance in 'The Plate'.

Think it's worth mentioning that hickelton is a very hilly course so it may be worth booking a buggy if your not kean on walking hilly courses
