Players Tips
Will be playing the course next week.
Awards On The Day
As we have less than 20 players, have organised the following trophies. If we get more players joining in, i will get something for team and 2nd / 3rd place on the day.
Nearest the Pin - 1st hole
Nearest the Pin - 18th hole
Longest drive - 14th hole ( this choice will become apparent on the day, as the river runs along the righthand side. to hit a massive drive, you have to go over the river which has trees along its length, so the longest drive winner might not be that long).
1st Prize - standard trophy like the winter league winners
UPDATE - Currently have 22 names down to play
If all attend looking at following prizes
1st Place - Trophy
2nd Place - American golf vouchers
3rd Place - American Golf vouchers
2 x Nearest the pin Trophies
1 x Longest drive Trophy
2 fore 1 voucher for each member of winning 4 ball / 3 ball on the day, looking at playing a yellow ball comp (Kindly donated by Tony Horne)

At the moment, there seems to
At the moment, there seems to be very little interest for this game, so it might be prizes on the day rather than trophies.
As you know Al, I've already
As you know Al, I've already sent my apologies. From speaking to a few others, it just seems "one of those" weekends when lots of things are happening. The game coincides with my Dad's 70th birthday, otherwise I'd definitley be attending!
Hi Alan, Sure I am already
Hi Alan,
Sure I am already signed up for this game, if not count me in, I will definitely be turning up.
Tony
always wanted to play here
always wanted to play here since the day i drove over the toll bridge and saw the course 20 years ago i have now fullfilled that dream this course is very demanding you need to hit straight drives on the narrow fairways some of the greens are a bit small but in great condition if you are a hooker or a slicer you had better take plenty of balls it is well worth the day out am returning again might even become a member here i loved it fantastic scenery

Aldwark Manor review
Three of us played the course today, so i thought i would give you an update on condition etc.
The course is looking really nice and different from when i last played it due to the tree having leaves on them now.
Fairways - These are in good condition, no boggy or muddy areas. Feel quite springy under the feet. Light rough is not a problem, about 2 inches. Deep rough is about 6 inches deep, but had been flatterned by the recent rain
Greens - These are in good to very good condition. Only 1 green (14th) was a bit spongy, the rest were firm but stopped a high flight ball pretty quickly.
Bunkers - These looked like they had been recently filled, all showing plenty of sand that was soft, rather than rock hard
Overall, i would rate the course in good to very good condition, only one puddle seen (next to 14th green). i will post some pictures later this evening. The other two playing the course today, was Nigel Cuyler and Les Barnard if you want to hear what they thought, drop them a line.
The 18th (Par 3), is a good challenge, as the bushes and trees on the right halfway down, block out about a third of the green, making a good tee shot essential. Unfortuantly, i hit mine out of bound so ended up with a 5!
County teams So far, for this
County teams
So far, for this event, we have 5 from West Yorkshire, 8 from South Yorkshire & 2 from Nottinghamshire, with a couple i'm still waiting to find out whuch county they are from.
Ideally, the idea was to have teams of 6, with 4 nominated players scoring on the day. Thier scores would be added together and the combined scores listed against the other counties. As we have 5 counties, the best joint score would get 5 points, worst 1 point, towards the county title.
At present West Yorkshire have 8 people in the team, South Yorkshire 11 players, Nottinghamshire 3 players, Lincolnshire 3 players & Derbyshire 3 players.
with the reduced numbers playing, West Yorkshire is ok, South Yorkshire will be split into two groups and i will play for Nottinghamshire, allowing three cards to count on the day.
Currently down for 21
Currently down for 21 players. Does anyone want to share a buggy with one member? If numbers hold, we will have 3 4balls and 3 3balls out on the day.
Don't forget the suntan
Don't forget the suntan lotion, UV factor of 8 in the afternoon! Is summer actually arriving?
Prizes Currently spent £39 on
Prizes
Currently spent £39 on prizes, which are 1st Place, 2 x nearest the pins and a longest drive. If 21 players attend it leaves £24 left over. So plan to get American golf vouchers, which will be £15 for Second and £10 for third if we all attended! Will get the vouchers in £5 sums, so if there are any drop outs, 2nd and 3rd will reduce in value. would have liked to got same amount of trophies as the winter league series, but we do not have th emoney in the kitty to do so.
Buggies are at a rate of £15
Buggies are at a rate of £15 per round (members rate). I have booked one as one players needs one. If no one else wishes to share the cost i will. Aldwark Manor have informed me that they will be rasing the cost of golf from next week.
If no one else wants to share
If no one else wants to share a buggy I will

Tony Horne has kindly donated some 2 fore 1 vouchers to the comp. So there will be one up for grabs for each of the winning 3 or 4 ball team on the day, playing a yellow ball comp.
For those not sure what this is, basically, each person in the group takes turns to play one hole with the ball, from tee to green. The score for the yellow ball is recorded on a seperate score card, but the score also counts for the player playing the ball on that hole. The winning team, is the team that either scores the highest stableford score for the ball, or most likely, actually manages to get the ball all the way round the course without losing it!
Can anyone beat the record from last time we played this? For those new, a team lost the ball on the second hole, hitting it into the pond in from of the green at Lincolnshire golf club! So as Tim is not playing this event, who will have the honour this time. The record could go, as the 1st hole is only a par 3, but out of bounds from tee to green tight to the lefthand side of the hole.
