Course Details:
Wetherby Golf Club is a picturesque 18-hole parkland course in the village of Linton, close to the market town of Wetherby. It is set on an escarpment and bordered by the river Wharfe which provides stunning views on six of the holes. Founded in 1910 the course was redesigned in 1919 by the legendary course architect Dr Alister McKenzie. Renowned for its manicured fairways it offers a challenging but fair test of golf. From the tiger tees the recently improved course measures almost 6700 yards. However there are now 5 tee options offering a course to suit all requirements. We also boast the added benefit of two loops of 9 holes.
Course Facilities:
Practice Facilities
Our extensive practice facilities are available to playing visitors. These include a full length driving range and both chipping and putting areas. Please contact the Pro Shop for more details.
Ample secure parking is available to guests adjacent to the clubhouse with code-operated barriers on the exit. The number will be available from the clubhouse staff on the day.

Route Planner:
Event 5 finally confirmed as Wetherby, a course that holds many comps and should be a good challange. Easy to get to, so travel time will probably be better than some of the trips we make to awkward locations.
From the A1(M) south
Take the exit signpost Collingham and Wetherby and follow the signs into the town centre. Cross the bridge over the river Wharfe and at the mini roundabout turn left signposted Harrogate. Go through the market place, as you leave the town centre take the left hand fork signposted Sicklinghall and Linton. After half a mile turn left towards Linton. The Golf club is 300 metres on the left.

Wetherby Update I have
Wetherby Update
I have received the bottom e-mail from the pro this morning. The course operates a policy that the course is never shut in advance. This means I will not know until 08:05 Sunday morning, if we can play or not. They have snow there at the moment, but expect it to turn to sleet / rain later this afternoon. There is a society booked after us, so i cannot delay the start.
So i propose we leave the match live and i will update the site at about 08:10 in the morning. If its open, then we can alter the tee off times, so those that have further to travel are in the later groups, thus giving more time to get to Wetherby. For those in the Rotherham area, it took me 1 hour on Thursday (during rush hour on the A1). So if everyone is ready to go, we can all still be there in time for a game. If the numbers are reduced, as long as there is 16 taking part, it will still count as an event, as thats what we said at the begining.
I have advised them we might have less turning up with such a late call and they understand. The problem we have, is there is not many other weekends we can fit a game in, so reluctant to cancel today, especially, if the course is open on Sunday....
"Hi Ian
The course is closed at the moment but snow could be gone by the morning, inspection is made daily and I will not know about tomorrow until I get in at 8 in the morning.
The other option is you call it off now if your guys need lots of notice, give me a ring if you wish to chat on 01937 580089 ext.2
Regards
Mark"
Allan, I think we`ve got tons
Allan, I think we`ve got tons of time if they let us know just after 8am, I believe I`m travelling the furthest distance (93m) and that`s plenty of time for me, at weekends it takes me an hour from L`pool to Leeds so I`m definitely setting off to be in clubhouse at around 10:00. I`ll be checking `news` on the website while driving and if it gets cancelled at worst I`ll turn around somewhere between Warrington and Salford. Nae bother.
Just got home after a night
Just got home after a night out up in Birstall woke to find 3" snow on my bloody car but fingers crossed boys lets hope the course is open

Yes, stopped snowing in Roterham adn it has all gone from the gorund as well.
I know on Thursday, they operated a 90 degree policy. This means you go along the path on each hole and walk across to take your shot, then back to the path if you have a trolley or Buggy.

Great day, after the snow yesterday I cannot believe the condition of the course.

Totally agree Rich, a really good day with the course in unbelievable condition to say the weather we've had, would certainly like to go back in the summer. Good to see a few new faces, i hope you all enjoyed the course & company as much as i did today.
I loved the course, it was
I loved the course, it was holding up very well considering the river running `under` it, how does it drain so well? My group were having fun throughout the play, as for myself, I hope I can learn to keep my head in the game for 18holes, not just 16. Thank you everyone for turning up and making it a brilliant day out in that cold.
so did one of "the others"

Great course, great condition
Great course, great condition and great turn out considering we did not know if we were going to be playing with 2 hours to go!
Hope you all enjoyed the course, for me, one of the best we have played on. How it was in such good condition considering it was covered in snow yesterday, god knows!
Yup, enjoyed the course and
Yup, enjoyed the course and the company. Would love to go back in the Summer. Glad to see not much was made of my one 'blob' of the day.......
........ Par 5. My 2nd shot goes off to the right side just next to a ditch and small copse, about 145 yards out. Blocked by trees. Thought I'd hit a low runner. Hit the ball, smacked straight into the club's oversized ball retriever about 10 foot ahead of me, bounced back behind me and hit my bag! I was gentleman enough to call the bag hitting penalty on myself (the others were probably too busy pishing themselves laughing) otherwise I'd still have scrambled a point!
Apart from Martin L V, did
Apart from Martin L V, did anybody else play from the railway bank to the right of the 14th? Whilst on the 14th tee, Al pointed out that on the scorecard it says that the bank beyond the ditch was OOB although, in all fairness to Martin it isn't marked by any white stakes.
Not sure about 10 foot in
Not sure about 10 foot in front more like 2 foot thats better than hitting the box on the ladies tie ,but great day super company only wish the golf had reflected it.Yes we must return to this course in the summer.
